To the Piha and New Zealand Surf Life Saving Family

I know Jess would be extremely honoured and humbled in the way her life has been celebrated.

Mark and I wish to thank everyone for how you have celebrated her life and the support you have shown us. It has been helping us in our darkest hours to laugh at all the rule breaking crazy and zany things she would do and hearing more and more stories is great.

We will always treasure the 20th of August at Piha it was the most amazing day. The 23 August where we laid her body to rest was an extension of this. Once again Mark and I thank you. We will miss you Jess so much as Alissa said Party N Peace babe love you always Mum and Dad

We are dismayed and saddened to hear of the loss of such a young and obviously highly thought of member of the surf lifesaving fraternity. It is so sad when a life is lost but equally as sad when it is one so young. From myself and the members of the Waihi Beach Lifeguard Service our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and every member of the Piha SLSC and wider lifeguard community who were fortunate to have known Jess.

The difference we make is measured by the memories we leave and these can never be taken from any of us, Jess will remain with us through those special moments that have created the memories left behind to remind us of her.

Jess, its almost incomprehensible that you are no longer with us. You lived a life full of joy, adventure and laughter, yet you had a quiet maturity and balance well beyond your short years. I remember you so fondly for the help and support you gave as one of the more senior members of the Piha competition squad. I also remember the number of times you would need bandaging up with twisted knees and sprained ankles, none of which dampened your enthusiasm. Our thoughts are with your family and close friends.

Hey Jess,

You are probably one of the most alive people I have ever met. It seems so strange to think that you are no longer here with us. I am going to miss you, A patrol will never be the same again! Your beautiful smile, your amazing sense of fun, your crazy silliness always made everyone laugh and you were a delight to be around. Did I mention you are absolutely gorgeous? Everyone who ever met you came away with a smile. Its so hard to comprehend that you have been taken from us way too soon – I feel like I have lost a partner in crime! You have left a giant hole in our club Jess and that is a true testament to the kind of person you were. I’ll think of you whenever Im out at Piha and all the good times we have had there.
