Piha Surf Life Saving Club - Project 80 Building Extensions.
The Piha Surf Life Saving Club has been providing a service to the community for over 80 years. The clubhouse was re-built in 1996 and requires modifications to keep it fit for purpose.
The key features of these Project 80 building extensions and modifications are:
The front of clubhouse will be extended to the west with a new high level Patrol Operations Room to restore views of the beach over sand dunes. This new patrol operations room is essential to manage our many rescue operations.
A new emergency rescue boat garage will be provided at the front of the club to reduce emergency response times and to overcome the problems of parked cars hindering passage of rescue boats responding from the existing boat sheds at the back of the clubhouse.
The Medical Room will be enlarged to accommodate extra diagnostic and life support equipment with a new access from the main driveway so patients can be quickly transferred into and out of the Medical Room to quad bikes and ambulances. Secure key card access to the medical room for St John Ambulance Piha First Response Team will be provided.
Resource Consent for Project 80 was obtained in November 2015. The club is proceeding with detailed design and preparation of tender documents to be ready for Phase I Construction at the end of the surf patrol season in April 2017.
The total project costs are estimated to be $1.45m plus GST
Fees and consents$120,000
Fit-out, fixtures and equipment$17,000
Total (ex GST)$1,450,000
