Piha Surf Life Saving Club enjoys a fantastic exchange programme with Huntington Beach, California. Our Junior Guards have the opportunity to train alongside Huntington Beach Junior Guards, learning new methods and upskilling for their future patrolling at Piha.

The Huntington Beach Exchange Programme is for our Junior Lifeguards aged 14 to 18 years of age, and is an ongoing programmeevery 3 or 4 years. It’s a great way to identify our future leaders. The team is around 30 members, who travel to Huntington Beach
in California, whilst also hosting the Huntington Team here in New Zealand.

The exchange has proven a huge success for Piha, as it not only gives us better lifeguards, but also well-rounded young adults who are committed to keeping our community safe at our beach.
