We Need Your Support
Piha SLSC services an immense number of beach goers.
We receive no guaranteed government or local body funding. Whilst we receive some support from our national body, we need much more to fund the annual cost of operating our club.
Make a Donation
As an indication, this is what your contribution could fund:
- $10 one lifeguard shirt
- $25 one day’s fuel to operate an IRB
- $50 one clubhouse patrol flag
- $120 First Aid training for a lifeguard
- $200 one pair of binoculars
- $500 one fuel bladder and line for an IRB
- $1,000 one season’s lifejackets
- $1,500 a resuscitation kit
- $2,500 annual maintenance costs for the club’s rescue equipment
- $6,500 one outboard motor (modified to SLS specifications)
- $12,500 one Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB)

Piha SLSC operates across a broad spectrum – in addition to our major role of patrolling Piha beach (and the associated training, clothing and administrative costs) we run surf sports, surf boat, nippers (junior surf) programmes as well as the upkeep of our impressive clubhouse.
The outcome of these programmes is a recruitment and retention rate that is the envy of many other clubs and even other sports. These programmes help ensure that keen and competent lifeguards are plentiful to provide peace of mind for Piha beach users.
We would be devastated to need to compromise the service we provide so your support is highly valued. Either by taking out an Associate Membership, making a donation or sponsoring the club you can make your own direct contribution to this valued public service.
