Surf Sports

Surf Sports offer members the chance to enjoy the fun and excitement of pitting themselves against each other, while at the same time is a training ground for the physical and psychological demands of saving lives in the surf.

Regardless of ability or interest, events range from Club based competitions (Club Day) to District and National Championships.

Qualified Lifeguards can participate in District Surf Sport events, which help build their peak performance for the New Zealand Championships held in March.

Events span the range of rescue skills and test competitors’ strength, fitness and agility in swimming, running, paddling a surf ski, board or canoe.

Racing Inflatable Rescue Boats is also an increasingly popular part of our sport.

Being the best you can be may also mean you’re the best in New Zealand – even the best in the world. For Lifeguards, Coaches and Officials, Surf Sports will open your eyes to a whole world of opportunities.
