Whilst we receive some support from central government, we need much more to fund the annual cost of operating our club. Without the help of our sponsors and grants, we wouldn’t be able to do the job we do – Thank You!

In the 2024/25 season our volunteers put in 5,582.5 hours of time, they conducted 25 rescues, assisting 20 people to safety, gave first aid to 58 people, made over 3,994 preventative actions involving 22,958 people.  Piha SLSC can’t operate without sponsorship. Thank you to all those companies and organisations that have supported our lifeguards through the seasons.

For 91 years, our club members have volunteered their time, enabling others to enjoy all Piha has to offer.

OUR IMPACT

Each season, over 100 volunteer lifeguards commit their time to patrol Piha Beach, responding to emergencies and supporting public safety. We invest year-round in training, equipment, and development to ensure every guard is ready to act. Last season alone, our team contributed 9,772.5 hours of total patrol time and engaged with nearly 23,000 beachgoers — through rescues, preventative actions, first aid, and public safety.

From the black sands of Piha to the wider Auckland region and beyond, our influence extends far beyond the beach. We engage thousands each year through patrols, surf sport, education, events, and community programmes.
